Detaching from the details of “the illusion.”
Attaining the vantage point of the witness.

p324 There is a profound period of calm that follows, and choices are made that will determine how far one wishes to venture from the familiar security of the world of the illusion. For, there is a comfort in the familiar that many will not choose to relinquish. And even though a glimpse of true reality has been experienced, many will choose to cling to the illusion that is known rather than to abandon all that has gone before in order to begin anew. For the true metamorphosis requires one to emerge in a newfound skin and to function in the world in ways that rule out the possibility of compromise.
