One can certainly intellectualize the process and try to force understandings that have been introduced by others or read about in books. Yet, until the lesson is manifested as poignant life experience, the real mastery of the lesson, upon which transcendence is based, is not possible. It serves no one to point out, condescendingly, understandings that one was fortunate enough to have learned through painful experience. It is counterproductive to pay lip service to platitudes one has encountered mentally, and which are far from integrated as experience in one’s own life. |
